First Light
Welcome to my new website and blog! For a while now, I have been toying with the idea of creating a personal website, and now you can see it come to life.
Why a personal website?
Platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Substack are convenient ways to broadcast a message and make it easy to build a network.
So why go through the effort of creating a personal website?
Unfortunately, these platforms often silo your content, making it inaccessible to people without an account on the respective platform. Further, your user account and is subject to their terms of service, and can be abruptly closed if their AI determines that you have violated their policies. The chances of successfully appealing such decisions are typically minimal.
To maintain the Internet’s freedom and openness, independent websites are essential.
Why this blog?
Now what is the purpose of this blog? Simply put, I will use this for anything that strikes my mind and is worth sharing with you. Hence, this blog will not be themed, allowing it to meander through different topics of interest. If you’re seeking a collection of coding advice for scientists, be sure to explore my themed blog, CodingForChemists.
The format of posts here will remind you of the Bauhaus style, where form follows function, with their length tailored to the density of the ideas they convey. Therefore, anticipate posts ranging from a few sentences to full essays.
